Most Anticipated Games Pushed Back from 2019 to 2020 Release Dates

July 18, 2019

We’re over halfway through 2019, and the year has seen some long-anticipated releases already, like Days Gone and Mortal Kombat 11. However, some of the most highly anticipated video games expected for 2019 have sadly been pushed back to 2020. The wait may be longer than expected, but hopefully it will be worth it. Here are the most anticipated games that got pushed back from 2019 to 2020 release dates.

The Last of Us II

The original The Last of Us is a perfect game.  A truly cinematic thrill that brought millions of players to tears — it was gripping, painful, thrilling, and incredibly beautiful.  It’s been 6 years since the original, and not one bit of excitement over a sequel has waned. While originally slated for October 2019, all signs point to The Last of Us II being delayed. The PS4 exclusive is rumored to hit retailers in February 2020.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Playing Animal Crossing is like reading the paper on a Sunday morning or a long walk in the park.  It’s just nice.  Most games center around violence or tension or all the things that make for easy excitement. But Animal Crossing, is all about being neighborly, taking care of yourself, and developing a connection to nature. If Bob Ross was a video game, this would be it. The upcoming fifth game in the series, called Animal Crossing: New Horizons, is coming to Nintendo Switch. A teaser trailer had originally set the desert island-themed release for 2019. Now, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set for March 20, 2020.

Halo Infinite

Halo has developed somewhat of a washy track record in recent years, but whatever: it’s Halo. One of the most iconic franchises ever, the savior of the Xbox, and the greatest space adventure since Star Wars. This Microsoft exclusive seeks to reinvigorate the franchise. Halo hasn’t had the same flavor since its original creator Bungie moved on to other projects.  But the return of Master Chief and a slew of new customizations makes this a must-play.

Halo Infinite was announced in 2018, and so fans got their hopes up for a 2019 release. However, Microsoft announced a holiday 2020 release date at an E3 press conference.
