The boss of the PlayStation division at Sony is dodging questions about whether the upcoming God of War sequel will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5.
Speaking with the Telegraph on Tuesday, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan would not confirm if God of War: Ragnarok would also be available on the PS4 when it is released for PS5 in 2021. Ryan would only say that he has “nothing to say about that today” when pressed to reveal whether the sequel would be exclusive to the PS5.
God of War: Ragnarok would not be the first PS5 exclusive. The next-gen console already has several high-profile titles that are not available on the PS4. These include Demon’s Souls and Astro’s Playroom, with more likely to be announced in the near future. However, other notable games such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales are cross-gen and will be released for both systems.
A sequel to the hit 2018 game God of War has been in development for some time. Although Sony has yet to officially confirm the name of the game, a secret ending teased the inclusion of Norse gods such as Thor and the impending end-of-the-world Ragnarok events.
