Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Studios is working on more than 25 different games for the PlayStation 5. Almost half of them are brand new IP rather than sequels or continuations of previous franchises.
Speaking in an interview with Wired, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst confirmed the number of projects currently in development. “There’s an incredible amount of variety originating from different regions,” Hulst said. “Big, small, different genres.”
It is currently not known what the majority of these games are. However, Sony previously announced God of War: Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart are in the works.
There have also been persistent rumors of a remake of The Last of Us for PS5 alongside new projects from Jade Raymond and Firewalk Studios.
More light might be shed on these new games over the coming weeks as E3 2021 approaches on June 12–15.
