Xbox Series X|S Has Strong UK Launch but Lags Behind PS4

The Xbox Series X|S had an incredibly strong launch in the UK, setting a number of sales records for the Microsoft in the country.

According to a report by VGC, the new consoles have been Microsoft’s most successful launch in the UK with the Xbox brand. Between them, the two consoles sold more than 150,000 units on November 12. This is a slightly higher figure than the company managed with the Xbox One back in 2013.

But the report makes it clear that the sales of the Xbox Series X|S are still much lower than those set by the PlayStation 4. Sony’s last system managed to shift 250,000 units. That made it the most successful console launch in the UK of all time.

Time will tell whether the PS4 record will be beaten by the PS5. The next-gen system is due to launch in the UK on November 19 and sold out its allocation of pre-orders within minutes of going live in September.
