February is traditionally one of the slowest months in terms of game releases. Only a handful of publishers release titles this soon after the holidays. There is just not that much demand for games from players. After all, most of them are still enjoying the AAA releases from the end of 2019.
Of course, that does not necessarily mean that there are no exciting releases to add to your collection. A few high profile games are set to launch in February alongside a series of smaller titles from less well-known studios. Here are all the noteworthy titles you can expect to see launching in February.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics
Release Date: February 4, 2020
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One
En Masse Entertainment is the team behind the upcoming The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics. The strategy-based RPG is a spin-off from the Netflix show and will include characters and locations from it. Although it features complex turn-based tactics gameplay, the developers are trying to make it as accessible as possible. So that means that all fans of the Netflix series should be able to enjoy the 50 campaign battles.
Monster Energy Supercross 3
Release Date: February 4, 2020
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One
Milestone S.r.l. has been incredibly busy over the past two years or so. The studio has released four dirt-bike racing titles. Monster Energy Supercross 3 will be the fifth when it launches. According to various media previews, the latest installment has addressed some longstanding issues and improved the basic gameplay. With more than 100 riders and 15 locations to race in, the game has plenty of content to keep players coming back.
Life is Strange 2: Collector’s Edition
Release Date: February 4, 2020
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
The fifth and final episode of Life is Strange 2 released in December, giving players a conclusion to Daniel and Sean’s story. In February, players will be able to get access to a physical copy of the game for the first time. The special Collector’s Edition includes all episodes along with the short prequel The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. Other goodies in the bundle include a vinyl set of the soundtrack, figurines of Sean and Daniel, and a hardcover art book.
Zombie Army 4: Dead War
Release Date: February 4, 2020
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Following on directly from the last entry in the franchise, Zombie Army 4: Dead War sees players continue their struggle against Hitler’s undead hordes. As players have come to expect, it features a co-op campaign and the same third-person shooter gameplay. However, PC players will have to purchase the game through the Epic Games Store due to an exclusivity deal.

Dreams
Release Date: February 14, 2020
Platforms: PlayStation 4
Sony has something of a tradition of releasing games that focus on player creativity, such as LittleBigPlanet. Dreams is the latest such title from developer Media Molecule. In it, players can create and share their very own video game experiences. Simplified tools allow users to include sophisticated elements such as game logic and scripting in their creations. The studio hopes to continually update and adapt Dreams over the next decade. Ultimately, the goal is to allow players to export their games so they can be played on other platforms.
Darksiders Genesis
Release Date: February 14, 2020
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One
At one point it looked as if the Darksiders franchise could well be dead. However, THQ Nordic has stepped in and teamed up with Airship Syndicate to release a brand new entry in the series. Already available for PC and Stadia players, it is more of a spin-off than a proper prequel. That’s mainly because of changes in gameplay, with the new game focusing on a top-down perspective. Players assume the roles of Strife and War as they battle against hordes of enemies in familiar hack-and-slash combat.
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection
Release Date: February 18, 2020
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One
Capcom has been steadily re-releasing the classic Mega Man games over the last few years. Numerous collections have brought the run-and-gun platformer to current hardware and a new audience of players. This latest release bundles Mega Man Zero 1, 2, 3, and 4, in addition to Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent. The developers have also included a leaderboard-focused Z chaser mode, allowing players to compete against others in special challenges.
