Top 10 Satisfying Platinum Trophies to Unlock

August 18, 2020

Platinum trophies are a nice way to celebrate a game you deeply enjoy. They’re also a very fun hobby for collectors and completionists to obsess over. However, not all trophy journeys are equal. Some are weighed down by troublesome multiplayer trophies or tasks that are simply too hard to be fun for the player. As such, let’s take a look at the top 10 platinum trophies that are straightforward and satisfying to achieve.

10. Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima is the PlayStation 4’s latest hit. What may very well be the sendoff for this generation of PlayStation exclusives is also widely regarded as one of the most fun games to earn a platinum trophy for.

The trophy hunt for Ghost of Tsushima is relaxing, engaging, and fun. In the end, that’s all we can ask for, right?

9. Horizon: Zero Dawn

Horizon: Zero Dawn was very popular when it came out in 2017. Horizon offered players a mysterious new world filled with dark secrets, awesome enemies, and tight combat that just felt great to play. Taking control of the fantastic main character Aloy, there was an entire map of content for players to enjoy. Plus, the map was filled with all sorts of challenges.

While this makes for a pretty lengthy platinum grind, it isn’t a bad time. Plus, it provides some good bragging rights once that ultra-rare trophy is finally unlocked.

8. Days Gone

Days Gone released in 2019 to some mixed feelings. It was far from a bad game, though. Despite some story elements and gameplay that may feel a bit dated at this point, Days Gone does make for a pretty pleasant path to Platinum.

The game features some very nice scenery, smooth combat, and a really cool enemy gimmick. Said feature has the “infected” attack in massive numbers. Naturally this makes things far more interesting. This is another platinum that requires a bit of grind. Although, it can be really fun if you get into the gameplay and world.

7. Ratchet and Clank

This remake of the original PlayStation 2 classic arrived in 2016 to much praise. While the game did lose a tiny bit of the charm the original had, the gameplay was still great. The various worlds that the player will visit are varied and beautiful, as well as filled with fun little challenges.

The platinum challenge for this game isn’t too hard, really. It is fairly easy and perfect for achieving while catching up on some podcast backlogs or listening to an audiobook.

6. Infamous Second Son

Infamous Second Son was one of the early PS4 exclusives this generation. Releasing in 2014, it was a game that really showed off some of the new console’s power. Even today, the game still looks great and plays really well. Players take control of Delsin Rowe, a superpowered hipster looking to rebel. Players are offered the gorgeous city of Seattle to run around in, which offers plenty for them to do while not overwhelming them at the same time.

Honestly, it’s a pretty easy platinum to earn. The various powers that Delsin controls ensures that the trophy grind will rarely become boring, as least!

5. The Last of Us Part II

The Last of Us Part II released in June 2020 to tons of praise and a healthy amount of controversy. However, one discussion that always cropped up was how smooth the road to earning the platinum actually was. It was a very direct and easy trophy hunt that can actually be earned in a single playthrough if players are careful enough.

However, a new update has added two additional trophies to the mix! Trophies for both grounded mode and permadeath mode are now in the game. Although these two trophies are not required for the platinum, completionists will now have a pretty tough challenge on their hands. Of course, that isn’t a bad thing in the slightest, as Part II was pretty easy at release.

4. Persona 5 Royal

Persona 5 Royal is an updated version of the incredible JRPG, Persona 5. Releasing in 2019, Royal added tons of content to the already lengthy game, as well as plenty of quality-of-life enhancements. One would think that this may make the platinum challenge a bit harder, but that’s far from true.

The platinum for the original Persona 5 was actually difficult to achieve. Persona 5 Royal, however, has a significantly easier trophy list. This actually makes the platinum grind in Royal more enjoyable rather than frustrating.

3. Marvel’s Spider-Man

Released in 2018, Marvel’s Spider-Man brought New York City’s favorite wallcrawler back into the good graces of gamers. After a series of subpar games, the PS4 version of Spider-Man had a lot to make up for, but it delivered everything the Marvel superhero deserved and more.

While the game is fantastic as an experience, it also featured a trophy list that was great for creating trophy hunters. The trophies were both easy and casually obtainable, making for a platinum grind that felt more fun and satisfying than anything.

2. God of War (2018)

2018’s God of War is a soft reboot of the PlayStation icon Kratos. The game itself is fantastic in terms of storytelling, gameplay, and visuals. This made God of War one of the PS4’s strongest exclusives by far. However, the platinum trophy associated with the game is also pretty strong, as well.

God of War has a platinum that is a bit harder to achieve than other games on this list, but that only adds to the satisfaction of unlocking it. The greatest challenge players will face are the optional Valkyrie boss battles. By unlocking the trophy for these, players will prove that they’ve mastered the combat of God of War, giving them a little something to take pride in.

1. Bloodborne

Bloodborne is a 2015 release that has a steep learning curve for new players. The game is a companion piece to the notoriously difficult Dark Souls series, meaning that it shares many qualities, including difficulty. However, Bloodborne is far from impossible as long as the player takes the time to understand the mechanics at play.

Players will be able to wipe out most of the trophies if they use a guide. Some of the trophies do require a hefty amount of grinding, though. If a player manages to hit that late game grind wall, then it is safe to say that they’re dedicated to seeing it all.

This isn’t an easy platinum to unlock, but that does make it an intensely satisfying game to complete in its entirety.
