2021’s Virtual BlizzCon Will Be Free for the First Time Ever

November 3, 2020

In September, Blizzard announced that their annual BlizzCon would be rescheduled to February and moved online due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Now comes news that for the first time in its history, the event will be entirely free of charge.

In previous years, Blizzard fans could watch much of the show online, but they had to pay $40 for the privilege. On Monday, Blizzard president J. Allen Brack told fans in a fireside chat video, “We want it to be a big virtual celebration, so BlizzConline will be free to watch and engage in.”

To that end, the event will include fan-oriented events such as art contests, cosplay contests, fiction contests, and more. We do not have confirmation yet, but the online convention will presumably include the usual assortment of panels and eSports events that BlizzCon is known for.

BlizzConline is scheduled for February 19–20, 2021. More info can be found at the official site.
