Many fans initially worried about the relationship between the two companies when Microsoft acquired Bethesda last year. However, Arkane director Harvey Smith says that the two companies “fit perfectly” together.
He even went as far as to say “it would be very, very difficult to find a better partner for Bethesda than Microsoft” in a recent interview with the Spanish website Vandal. He claimed that Microsoft was basically an “ideal partner,” though he admits that the “process is still developing” when it comes to potential changes due to the buyout.
Harvey Smith has some pretty major gaming credentials. He served as the lead designer on Deus Ex as well as directing both Dishonored and Dishonored 2. And in the interview, he made his next project sound a bit mysterious: “I’m in something else, working with the guys who made Dishonored and Prey.”
Given his track record, we’re confident that his next game will be awesome. And given his high praise of Microsoft, it seems that Bethesda fans can breathe a bit easier about the future of their favorite franchises.
