As soon as the organizers of E3 cancelled the upcoming exhibition, some publishers, including Microsoft and Ubisoft, decided to prepare digital events instead. Unfortunately, Bethesda Softworks has decided to give up the idea — there will be no digital showcase in June.
This was announced on Twitter by Pete Hines, Bethesda’s senior vice president of marketing:
Also, this year was supposed to be the 25th QuakeCon anniversary. Bethesda Softworks and id Software have been puzzling over how to do the event, but now it is canceled because of COVID-19. QuakeCon 2020 had been set to take place August 6-9 in Dallas, Texas.
So, Bethesda and id Software are still looking forward to “come up with other ways to celebrate the spirit of QuakeCon”: it’s likely that companies will digitize the announcements. After all, it’s time to reveal some info on Doom Eternal DLC and the Wolfenstein threequel!
