Blizzard has confirmed that it will showcase Diablo IV during the upcoming BlizzConline event, and hinted that it will reveal a brand new class.
Diablo IV game director Luis Barriga stated in a Blizzard blog post Tuesday that the company has a “chunky” announcement to make during BlizzConline — the BlizzCon event that will be held entirely online in February due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’ve read speculation about what it could be and want to ensure you that it is something chunky indeed,” Barriga wrote. “Without spoiling the surprise, Iet’s just say it involves a new version of the campfire scene we showed you last BlizzCon.”
The campfire scene in question is likely a reference to the class selection screen where players choose their characters. This has led to speculation that the developer will introduce a new class. Of course, with Diablo IV still in development, the tease could reference a number of different elements.
The full reveal is still some way off, though, with BlizzConline not scheduled until February 19–20, 2021. The event will include a selection of trailers, announcements, and reveals for Blizzard games alongside showcases for fan artists and creators.
