It’s Double Delay Day: Crystal Dynamics announced on its blog today that they have pushed back the release date of Marvel’s Avengers to September 4, 2020. The game was previously scheduled to release on May 15.
“We will spend this additional development time focusing on fine tuning and polishing the game to the high standards our fans expect and deserve,” the developer stated.
Square Enix also made a similar announcement today, pushing the release date of Final Fantasy VII Remake back by about one month. Previously set to release on March 3, it has now been delayed to April 10.
The game’s official Twitter account posted the following message from the development team, stating that they will use the additional time to ensure quality and “the best possible experience.”
The reasons for rescheduling are clear in both cases: allowing enough time to deliver the best games possible. While Crystal Dynamics wants to create something better than just another video game based on a famous movie franchise, Square Enix is about to release a remake that may set the course for new FF games. Let’s wish them luck.
