Epic Games is bringing players a new subscription service for Fortnite. The subscription is called Fortnite Crew, and it rolls the Battle Pass into a package that offers additional V-Bucks and assorted other perks for players.
Players can subscribe to Fortnite Crew starting on December 2. This corresponds with the release date for the second chapter of the game’s fifth season. According to Epic (via the Playstation Blog), this timing helps players subscribe to the new plan before their current Battle Pass expires. And if you sign up for Fortnite Crew and already have a Battle Pass, you will get a refund of 950 V-Bucks.
Why make the upgrade from the Battle Pass? Fortnite Crew gives you Battle Pass access as well as a bonus of 1,000 V-Bucks per month, in addition to whatever Bucks you earn. Every month also brings an exclusive pack with a new skin and items such as gliders, emotes, and pickaxes.
The first of these packs offers a skin for galactic empress Galaxia, an extra style, a Fractured World Back Bling, and a Cosmic Llamacorn Pickaxe. And like the rest of the exclusive Fortnite Crew pack items and skins, you will keep everything you get from these packs even if you let your subscription lapse.
Ultimately, this is a bold new move for Epic Games, and time will tell how well players respond to it.
