After a disappointing previous delay, Halo Infinite is now slated for a release this holiday season. There will be a beta before the game officially releases, and we’ve got the details on how you can sign up today.
Signing up for Halo Insider closed beta
The first step to signing up for the Halo Infinite beta is simple. You must sign up for Halo Insider on the Microsoft website.
You must be at least 18 years old to sign up, and you’ll need to sign a confidentiality clause stating you won’t spill any secrets you discover in the beta, including images or video. You’ll then need to provide your preferred email address as well as details about things like your country and time zone.
While signing up, you’ll need to provide info about your favorite Halo titles and modes as well as what platforms and controllers you own. There will be questions about your personal preferences, including your display and sound settings and whether you’d want to do any PC-specific beta testing (this will require disclosing your computer’s stats and your Steam ID).
This is all pretty simple, but don’t forget: you are simply registering for a chance to be selected for the beta, so this comes with no guarantee. Still, completely and accurately filling out your Halo Insider app may improve your chances.
When is the Halo Insider beta release date?
We don’t yet know when the beta will go live, though it will definitely be ahead of the game’s release this holiday season. We also don’t know for sure how many tests Halo Infinite will have. There will be at least one, though Microsoft may run more beta tests (which they call “flights”) before the game releases.
Will there be a Halo Insider open beta?
By signing up for Halo Insider, you are putting your name in the running for Halo Infinite’s closed beta. But gamers want to know: will there be an open beta for this game?
So far, there has been no announcement about an open beta. However, franchise fans may remember that the Master Chief Collection had a very disastrous launch. As Destructoid reports, 343 Industries head Bonnie Ross told Game Informer, “Going forward, you will never see a Halo game coming out without a beta. [Master Chief Collection] was obviously painful for our fans and for us. But it won’t happen again.”
This may translate to the need for both a closed beta and an open one. But for your best chance to play Halo Infinite early, we recommend you sign up for Halo Insider today!
