Kenichiro Imaizumi worked with Hideo Kojima for about 20 years. His portfolio includes all the major Metal Gear Solid games, starting with Sons of Liberty. Imaizumi left Kojima Productions at the end of 2019, and now he has found refuge at Tencent, reports Video Games Chronicle.
According to VGC, Imaizumi joined Tencent’s European division in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This branch of the Chinese corporation is exploring investment opportunities in Europe and is expanding the reach of the WeChat messenger.
What exactly Imaizumi will do at Tencent is unknown. For example, Battlefield Hardline’s game-director and Halo 4’s design director Scott Warner announced that he will head Tencent’s new AAA gaming studio in North America. Probably the American team has nothing to do with Imaizumi.
Imaizumi was the producer of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He left Konami right after Hideo Kojima in 2015 and helped to start a new Kojima Productions and produce Death Stranding.
