A new Nintendo Direct briefing about the Pokémon series is set to take place next month, according to an insider with a proven record of correct past leaks.
Twitter user @KeliosFR has previously revealed a number of high-profile Pokémon announcements before Nintendo or Game Freak officially spoke about them publicly.
In a new tweet, the leaker suggests that the Japanese company will host a Nintendo Direct in February. That month will mark the 25th anniversary of the franchise and also includes a celebration known as Pokémon Day on February 27 that commemorates the day the first game in the series launched.
With both of these events set to take place in February, it makes sense for a Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct to take place. However, there’s currently no information about what the briefing will include or what plans Nintendo has to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise.
It’s likely the company will reveal special events for titles such as Pokémon Go and Pokémon Sword & Shield alongside possible announcements about upcomings games and DLC.
One thing that has been confirmed is that pop star Katy Perry will headline a series of musical events throughout the month to celebrate the franchise’s anniversary.
