The Mortal Shell RPG will be a timed exclusive to the Epic Games Store and won’t appear in Steam until a year after its release. The release itself will take place simultaneously on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sometime during July–September 2020 (no exact date yet).
“The primary goals of our studio are to make Mortal Shell the best game it can be and to live another day and keep making awesome games in the future,” said the founders of developer Cold Symmetry in a joint statement.
“Epic’s financial support, for a small studio like ours, was clearly going to help us achieve those goals so it was something we had to consider earnestly.”
Mortal Shell is a souls-like game where we play as a spirit that is able to dwell in the bodies of fallen warriors, called shells. There are several shells in the game — each has a unique background and abilities. See the gameplay in the video below.
