Developer Crystal Dynamics has revealed that it is making leveling up in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version of Marvel’s Avengers more difficult.
The game, which is already notorious within the gaming community for forcing players to endlessly grind, will be increasing the amount of XP for each level past 25.
Making the announcement on the Marvel’s Avengers official site, the developer confirmed that this change was a result of players seemingly reaching the max level of 50 too quickly. This has apparently led to some players becoming overwhelmed with the extra features and gameplay mechanics that become available with each new level.
Unlike many other similar games, Marvel’s Avengers requires users to collect the same amount of XP to advance through each level. Most titles have a sliding scale so that each subsequent level needs more XP to unlock than the last.
“This has led to pacing issues, such as skill points currently being rewarded too fast, which may be confusing and overwhelming to newer players. We want each decision to invest in a skill or Heroic to be more meaningful,” Crystal Dynamics says.
The new update that will bring the changes will launch on March 18, with Crystal Dynamics suggesting players who want to reach the level cap faster should ensure they play the game before that date.
