Returnal has been delayed by a month to April 2021 in an effort to add some last-minute polish to the title.
The game, which is a PlayStation 5 exclusive that was first announced in June 2020, was originally due to launch on March 19. However, Sony has revealed that the release date has now been pushed back to April 30.
The announcement was confirmed in the below tweet, with Sony saying that the delay will “give the team extra time to continue to polish the game.” This is seemingly to ensure that it meets the expectations of players when it does release.
Returnal is a third-person shooter with rogue-like elements. Players take control of Selene after the character crash lands on a strange world that can shape-shift.
Every death will result in the procedurally generated world changing its forms and Selene having to restart her journey to escape the planet. Players also have the opportunity to purchase and find upgrades that will make future runs easier.
