PUBG: Battlegrounds, formerly known as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, helped whet our appetite for Battle Royale games before the free-to-play Fortnite took the world by storm. As of today, PUBG itself has become a free-to-play game. It is also offering special rewards to previous players.
New players can download and play PUBG at no cost. Those who have bought a copy of the game sometime in the past five years will be upgraded to Battlegrounds Plus, which gives them two additional match types and other extra content to enjoy. Previous buyers will also get a commemorative set of in-game cosmetics to enjoy.
New players can upgrade to Battlegrounds Plus for $12.99 and enjoy its benefits. These benefits include a 100% XP boost, 1,300 G-Coins, Ranked and Custom Match games, and a matched set of gloves, hat, and mask.
If that’s not enough to bring you back to PUBG, the game will be getting three free content updates between Jan. 26 and Feb. 9. And the game’s 15.2 update brings features like a tutorial, EMT gear so you can heal players, a scout drone that can give you the edge over the competition, and other cool goodies.
Will you be returning to PUBG, or perhaps checking it out for the first time? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
