Spider-Man: Miles Morales, one of Sony’s key exclusive games for 2020, outsold Uncharted: The Lost Legacy but failed to beat its predecessor’s launch.
According to SuperData, Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold more than 660,000 units across the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in the weeks following its launch. While that was enough to make it one of the best selling games in November, it was significantly lower than Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4, which sold 2.2 million digitally at launch.
The fact that Spider-Man: Miles Morales launched so close to Christmas might explain why it has apparently underperformed compared to its predecessor. Users may be planning on buying the game during the holidays when they have time off work or as a gift.
Of course, players might also be waiting until they upgrade to the next-gen console from the PS4 before picking up the sequel, especially with Sony’s confusing messaging about the upgrade paths and cross-save functionality between console generations.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales launched on November 12 for both PS4 and PS5.
