The Medium, the latest title from Bloober Team, made its development costs back after only one day of release. According to a January 29 press release from Bloober Team obtained by Polish site Money.pl, sales of The Medium have already covered the production and marketing costs of the game.
This is particularly impressive considering the title just launched on January 28 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. It also became available directly through Xbox Game Pass on the platform. However, the studio has not released information about the number of sales or how much the team was paid by Microsoft to include the game in its subscription-based service.
The Medium is a psychological horror game where the player can switch between two realms, solving puzzles in both worlds to move forward. It’s a unique mechanic that carries on the studio’s tradition of experimentation, as was evident in previous games like Layers of Fear and Observer.
Xbox Game Pass has proven to be a big success for Microsoft over the last 12 months. The company has convinced EA to merge its own subscription service, in the form of EA Play, with it. The tech giant also confirmed recently that Xbox Game Pass now has more than 15 million subscribers.
