Next year, Pokémon turns 25 and Pokémon Go turns five. To celebrate, Niantic is launching a virtual ticketed event for trainers all around the world on Saturday, February 20, 2021.
The event (dubbed Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto) makes you choose between a Red or Green version, with different versions offering different Pokémon. In a throwback to the original Red and Green days, you won’t be able to complete your collection without finding a friend to trade with.
What makes this event special? In addition to event-exclusive Special Research, the initial 150 Pokémon discovered by players will be Shiny. Don’t worry about missing out — you’ll still be able to encounter these Pokémon later.
After completing enough research and training, players can discover a Shiny Mew. Keep in mind you can buy tickets now ($11.99 plus applicable taxes and fees) via the in-app store, and buying early enough gives you access to Special Research Stories for the Community Day events in January and February.
On February 20, the event will last from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Be sure to snag your tickets today and use these next two months to brush up on your skills as a trainer!
