The first game from Microsoft’s new studio The Initiative will reportedly be a third-person game set in the Perfect Dark universe. That’s according to Jeff Grubb from VentureBeat, who made the claim during the Kinda Funny Games podcast on Tuesday.

On Twitter, Grubb elaborated that the game “might not be exactly Perfect Dark, but it’s playing in that universe.”

The Initiative is a new internal studio at Microsoft, which recruited a number of specialists from Respawn Entertainment, Crystal Dynamics, Naughty Dog, and Bungie.

Earlier, Microsoft mentioned that The Initiative is interested in working with both the rich Xbox heritage and completely new concepts. Previous reports indicate that we should be hearing official word about The Initiative’s first game sometime this year.

The Perfect Dark franchise was launched by Rare Studio with support from Nintendo in 1999 on the Nintendo 64 console. The main series consists of two first-person shooters. The main character is bounty hunter Joanna Dark.
