Japanese studio Soleil Games and publisher Adult Swim Games have announced Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, an action-adventure game based on the animated series Samurai Jack.
Finally someone realized this amazing idea! Samurai Jack was one of the most successful Cartoon Network cartoons, combining stylish action, deep philosophical connections, and wonderful characters.
So, in the game Jack is going to be the main character (obviously). The mighty demon Aku locked him in an alternate timeline covering all of human history. The protagonist’s task is to get out of the time trap and fight the villain. It’s as simple as that but if you know Jack’s story, you know how wonderful this game might be.
And what about developers and gameplay? This is supposed to be hack-n-slash with variety of melee and ranged weapons. Soleil Games is the studio that consists of ex-Ninja Gaiden/Dead or Alive developers, which gives the game some credibility. The script is written by Darrick Bachman, head writer of the fifth season of Samurai Jack.
Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will appear this summer on PC (in Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. More details will be revealed at PAX East 2020 on February 28.
