Excitement for Battlefield 2042 has been building thanks to occasional leaks and brief trailers. But now, DICE has fully revealed the game for E3 2021, and here is everything we know so far.
Battlefield 2042 trailer
While we’re going to be getting a gameplay trailer reveal this Sunday, the above trailer uses the game’s graphics engine and gives a great idea of how this title will look.
Battlefield 2042 release date and platforms
Battlefield 2042 will be coming to plenty of platforms. It will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 22.
Battlefield 2042 plot
As the name implies, this game takes place in the near future of 2042. In this future, global warming has devastated much of the world and thrown nations all across the world into chaos. And as part of this chaos, America and Russia are recruiting those who have lost their homelands (these people are known as Non-Patriated, or “No-Pats”) to fight their battles.
Battlefield 2042 weapons
The various weapons and armor in the game are fictional, but most of it is meant to be an evolution of the weapons and technology available today. This includes technology like robotic dogs and weaponized drones that will seem very familiar to any fans of high-tech equipment.
Battlefield 2042 multiplayer
The multiplayer in this game looks very ambitious. PC and next-gen consoles will support 128-player matches. Meanwhile, the PS4 and Xbox One versions are limited to 64-player matches. The maps are bigger than ever, and you can order ground vehicles as needed in order to get to your destination.
And these maps are supposed to have dynamic weather conditions which dramatically change the landscape. Just think what a tornado could do to the battlefield and you’ll get a good idea of gameplay. Additionally, destruction and ground deformation help underscore what the weather, vehicles, and weapons are doing to the terrain.
While the game’s background story sounds interesting, it will not have a single-player campaign mode. However, DICE has promised multiple multiplayer modes to keep you coming back for more.
