Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Ports Coming in 2022

November 30, 2021

The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 have changed the landscape of gaming and helped transform CD Projekt Red into a force to be reckoned with. Now, the developer is set to unleash next-gen ports of these games soon, along with some other surprises.

In a recent press release, devs dropped some useful knowledge for players. CD Projekt Red clarified that a next-gen port of Cyberpunk 2077 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is “scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2022 alongside another major update for all platforms.” Additionally, “there is also ongoing work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3.”

So, it looks like we will see new ports as well as updates for Cyberpunk 2077 between January and March and The Witcher 3 sometime between April and June.

In less exciting news, CD Projekt Red discussed other developers that joined their company: Digital Scapes and The Molasses Flood. The latter will be responsible for “a separate game based on one of CD Projekt Red’s IPs.”

Least surprising of all, the press release noted that the dip in profits has been related to “expenses related to updating Cyberpunk” after its disastrous launch. But they also blame the dip on “exploratory work on new projects which are at an early stage of development,” which may signal even more influential IPs from the company in the future.

In the meantime, players can focus on the opportunity to enjoy games like The Witcher 3 with better loading times and ray tracing (and the next-gen version will be a free upgrade if you already own the title on Xbox One or PS4). These new features may even be enough to make us stop playing Gwent and start going on the quests in our backlog!
