Eli Roth Set to Direct Borderlands Film

February 22, 2020

Eli Roth is set to direct a film adaptation of Borderlands, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford announced Thursday on Twitter. More information will be revealed during Gearbox’s panel at PAX East on February 27.

Roth has directed horror films like Hostel and the 2018 remake of the action classic Death Wish. But perhaps he is best known for his performance in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds as Sgt. Donny “The Bear Jew” Donowitz.

The Borderlands movie was re-announced last year and its synopsis already sounds non-canonical. A legendary thief named Lilith is hired by the Atlas Corporation CEO to save his daughter Tiny Tina. But it turns out Tiny Tina is the key to unlock a valuable alien vault… you see, right? I hope this is not the final plot. Let’s be clear — the best Borderlands story was told during “Tales from the Borderlands” events.

Anyway, it’s time to create fan-casts! I can see Danny DeVito as Claptrap and Sammi Hanratty as Tiny Tina. Who would you cast? Sound off in the comments below!
