Final Fantasy 14 PS5 Open Beta Coming This Month

April 1, 2021

Final Fantasy 14 will be receiving its 5.5 patch on April 13. That is the same day that the game will be going into open beta on the PlayStation 5.

The game has been available for PS4 players, and those players can carry over their existing characters and data for the beta. Those who play the game on the PS5 can look forward to features such as haptic feedback, better frame rates, faster load time, and 4K resolution.

We don’t yet know exactly when the game will officially launch on the PS5. The official announcement will be made on the Lodestone following the completion of the beta. And those who participate in the beta can count on their characters and data transferring to the game after it launches.

How can you check out the beta on PS5? There are just a few easy steps you’ll need to take.

If you are completely new to the game, just head to the PS5 PlayStation Store and to the FF14 page. There, select “Final Fantasy 14 Free Trial” to download the client and then launch the game. This will let you explore everything players can typically explore during a free trial.

If you already play the game on PS4, then head to the PS5 PlayStation Store and to the FF14 page. There, you need to select and download “Final Fantasy PS5 Upgrade Edition (Beta Version).” You can then launch the game and have access to everything you can already access on the PS4 version.

There has arguably never been a better time to check this game out. If you decide to stay on as a player now, you’ll be in a good position to explore the Endwalker expansion which is coming to the game later this fall.
