Grand Theft Auto Online is an acquired taste, but the game has amassed a massive following. And that following is likely to grow after the game launches story DLC this month featuring Franklin from Grand Theft Auto V and musical legend Dr. Dre.
Here’s what we know so far: the DLC will be called “The Contract” and release on Dec. 15. The story takes place a few years after the end of Grand Theft Auto V’s story, and Franklin has been making some major moves to expand his influence.
To this end, he has established a company named F. Clinton and Partner. The company specializes in providing solutions to wealthy celebs and influencers, allowing Franklin and company to interact with some colorful characters.
GTA 5 fans will enjoy seeing the return of Lamar, who now has his own drug empire. When Lamar and Franklin meet, they hatch a plan that is supposed to catapult Franklin’s business venture to a whole new level.
That’s the basic story, but there are many other elements that should please fans of the franchise. For example, there is a mission where you have to track Dr. Dre’s phone down and help him retrieve some unreleased musical tracks on the device. Since Franklin promises “celebrity solutions,” helping Dre retrieve his phone can potentially put his business on the map in a big way.
Speaking of Dr. Dre, we’ll be hearing some popular and even unreleased music as part of a major update to the radio stations in the game. There will also be a new radio station with special hosts promised, and many fans are convinced one such host will be another musical legend: Snoop Dogg.
Rockstar has promised more updates in the coming days. But honestly, what we know so far already sounds pretty exciting. And a successful DLC launch may help Rockstar win some fans back after the disastrous launch of their remastered GTA trilogy.
