LA Noire and Max Payne 3 Get Surprise Updates, Free DLC on PC

April 20, 2021

While beloved by fans, LA Noire (2011) and Max Payne 3 (2012) are both aging titles. But this didn’t keep Rockstar Games from quietly adding surprise updates to the PC versions of these games yesterday, including making the DLC for each game free to download.

In addition to the free DLC, the biggest news concerning this update is support for 32-bit operating systems (although this will not work for the VR Case Files for LA Noire). However, the story behind this surprise update is almost more compelling than the free content.

Yesterday, Rockstar accidentally pulled all of their games from Steam. When they put them back, the company accidentally added the delisted 2003 game Midnight Club 2, allowing gamers the opportunity to purchase this rare title for a few hours before they yanked it down again.

What does this mean for the surprise updates to LA Noire and Max Payne 3? It’s possible this was an accidental move on Rockstar’s part as they tried to restore their titles to Steam. Either way, players get to reap the benefits of free DLC and other improvements for two of the best games Rockstar ever made!
