New Fortnite Update Adds Rapid Fire SMG for Season 6

March 2, 2021

Epic Games has released a brand new update for its battle royale game Fortnite, replacing the Hand Cannon with a rapid-fire SMG.

Although the official patch notes do not mention the weapon changes, the SMG has definitely returned to Fortnite just in time for the release of Season 6.

The v15.50 Update also adds a number of new features. This includes Large Islands for Creative games, which are 25% larger than the previous islands available to players.

Epic Games also confirmed that it has plans to localize content created in the Creative Hub. Any content that is already in English will be translated to the 13 languages supported in Fortnite. This process will begin with Featured Hubs first but will later be expanded to more content.

The update also fixes a number of bugs, such as an issue where a party leader could not interact with Matchmaking Portals and a glitch that gave shotguns the wrong rarity during matches. Meanwhile, the Jellyfish has been made available once again, although the Rift Fish is still disabled while Epic Games investigates the issues surrounding the new item.

Although there is no official release date for Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 6 yet, it should launch soon after March 15, as the Season 5 battle pass ends on that day.
