Nintendo Reveals Top-Selling Indie Games on Switch This Year

December 30, 2021

The Nintendo Switch unexpectedly became a darling platform for indie games, leading to the popular Indie World showcase. And this year’s showcase revealed the top-selling games for Nintendo Switch in 2021.

Here is a breakdown of the games in the order of their appearance in the video:

  • Cyber Shadow
  • Unpacking
  • Tetris Effect: Connected
  • Stick Fight: The Game
  • Curse of the Dead Gods
  • Ender Lilies
  • Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!
  • Spelunky 2
  • Road 96
  • Subnautica/Subnautica: Below Zero
  • Littlewood
  • Islanders Console Edition
  • Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition
  • Eastward
  • Axiom Verge 2

The list is a pleasant mixture of familiar franchises and newer ones. For example, it’s not that surprising to see Tetris Effect on here, and titles like Spelunky 2 and Subnautica have a small legion of fans.

However, other titles reveal the sheer depth of Nintendo’s bench. Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition carries on the tradition of cutesy adventure titles we typically associate with Nintendo platforms, while others like Stick Fight: The Game managed to take everyone by surprise (mostly because this title has basically zero buzz but is clearly popular with Switch owners).

Which of these indies is your favorite? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
