Resident Evil Movie Reboot Wraps Filming

December 29, 2020

The Resident Evil movie reboot has completed filming and is now scheduled to enter pre-production, according to the official Resident Evil Twitter account.

The latest film is set to reboot the horror franchise following a successful run starring Milla Jovovich, which had its final entry in 2016. This movie is also set to be directed by Johannes Roberts. The British director is famous for his work in the genre, including 2017’s 47 Meters Down.

According to Roberts, the new Resident Evil movie will be based on the first two games in the series. Set in 1998, it will primarily take place in the familiar Racoon City and star Kaya Scodelario, Robbie Amell, and Avan Jogia in leading roles.

Resident Evil is expected to release on September 9, 2021. However, that change could well change over the coming months depending on the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
