Game Informer has released a new gameplay video for Resident Evil Village that demonstrates how upgrades work in the upcoming survival horror title.
Players will be able to hunt animals and use any materials gained from them to craft a variety of items. However, the video puts most of the emphasis on the meals that can be cooked to give protagonist Ethan Winters permanent and temporary boosts.
Many of the fish, mammals, and birds available to hunt down won’t go down without a fight, though. Players will have to weigh up the risk of being hurt or killed by animals with the rewards available from harvesting them.
Other upgrades in Resident Evil Village can be bought using the in-game currency known as Lei. Defeated enemies will drop Lei and items can be sold to get more, which can then be used to buy additional upgrades for weapons such as a higher rate of fire or larger capacity for ammo.
Resident Evil Village is due to release on May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
