Steam Hits New Record of Players Due to Coronavirus

March 16, 2020

As more people are staying at home, Steam has set a new record: 20 million online users and 6.2 million in game, SteamDB reports. This is how coronavirus and quarantines affected the famous video game platform.

The most popular game is Counter Strike: Global Offensive with 1,024,845 peak players at the moment of writing. After CS:GO, people prefer Dota 2 and PUBG. As more people are staying at home, these numbers may grow. For now, we have EA, Rockstar, Microsoft and Bungie with employees working from home, and this is only the video game industry.

This isn’t the only way the coronavirus has impacted the gaming industry. Earlier this year, a lot of major events like E3 were either canceled or postponed.
