On the Steam forums Thursday, Bethesda Softworks Community Manager Abigail Tyson revealed a planned patch to remove Denuvo from the Steam version of Prey (2017) did not work as planned. Instead, some users received an empty patch of 4 GB or 16 GB.
“”Today, we planned to perform a backend deployment for Prey in order to remove Denuvo, but some of you may have seen a 16GB or 4GB update instead,” Tyson wrote.
The developers have already removed this patch and promise to remove Denuvo from Prey in the future.
“We’ve rolled back this deployment, so you should no longer have any large updates for Prey or Prey: Mooncrash. The update to remove Denuvo will still be deployed, but at a later date. Your game should be unaffected, but please let us know if you’re seeing any issues!” Tyson wrote.
Prey was released in May 2017 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
