The King of Fighters 15 Has Been Delayed to 2022

June 2, 2021

Thanks to hardcore fan interest and an intense marketing campaign, the hype for The King of Fighters 15 is at an all-time high. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has caused delays resulting in this game not coming out until 2022.

This information comes courtesy of an update that developer SNK wrote for their website. There, they wrote, “There are many fans who are anticipating the release of KOF 15 in 2021, however at this point in time, we unfortunately have to announce that KOF 15 will now be launching within the 1st quarter of 2022.”

Continuing, SNK wrote, “The development timeline we set out to reach in the beginning has been affected by the ever-still rising cases of Covid-19 within Japan. We have made the ultimate decision in the end that the product’s quality must come first, and so with that decision comes an altered release window.”

Originally, the game was going to release in 2021 (though an exact release date had never been announced). And SNK had been teasing its release by announcing new characters every week. Now, though, the developer has decided to focus on putting out the best possible fighting game.

As the SNK statement concluded, “We sincerely ask for your kind patience and understanding as our development teams continue to work hard on KOF 15 as we draw closer to its release.”

Though the release date and platforms for this game are unknown, it sounds like it will be worth the wait!
