The Last of Us Part 2 Gets Free Performance Update on PS5

If you own a PlayStation 5, you can now download a free performance update for The Last of Us Part 2. This update pushes the game to a jaw-dropping 60 frames per second.

After downloading the performance update, players can choose between settings for 30 fps and 60 fps. Once you download the 1.08 patch for the game, you can select between frame rates in the Display options menu. This is on top of existing PS5 improvements to the game that help improve the load time and the resolution.

How good are the improvements, though? Many players have found that playing the game on the PS5 is a quantum leap over playing it on PS4 or the PS4 Pro. The fps increase alone makes this feel like an entirely new game.

This may just be the tip of the iceberg for The Last of Us Part 2 on PS5. There are strong rumors that the PS5 may get its own version of the game. And developer Naughty Dog’s interest in the PS5’s capabilities may lead to additional updates or even some DLC in the future.
