Ubisoft Investigating PS5 Upgrade Issues for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion

December 1, 2020

One of the big features of the PS5 is the ability to upgrade certain games. However, Ubisoft is investigating why some players are unable to upgrade their copies of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion.

On Twitter yesterday, the company confirmed they knew of upgrade issues for UK players who were trying to upgrade physical copies.

The issue has persisted since November 19, and Ubisoft’s previous advice to players about solving the issue has been largely ineffective. Their advice to players boils down to putting the disc in their PS5, selecting “view product” from the game hub, and initiating the upgrade.

Many players are still experiencing trouble, but the company remains optimistic about finding a solution. As they wrote, “We’re working to resolve this, and can confirm anyone experiencing this issue will still be eligible for their free upgrade. Stay tuned for more information.”

Considering the ability to upgrade other titles from rival companies, Ubisoft has a vested interest in fixing this problem and firmly establishing itself as a successful next-generation publisher.
