IGN has released the first trailer for the recently-announced animated film Mortal Kombat Legend’s: Scorpion’s Revenge. To be honest, this is something every MK fan has wanted since Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm. It is so nice to see the franchise expand!
The animation itself looks cool, like a child of the DC Animated Movie Universe and Shank (2010). The trailer confirmed that the film will be released straight to digital and Blu-ray. Also, the film has received an R rating for “strong bloody violence throughout and some language.” We would expect no less from a Mortal Kombat film.
The story appears quite similar to Mortal Kombat (1992): there’s a tournament between the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm. Lord Raiden must gather the greatest fighters, like Liu Kang, Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage. Parallel to this, it’s the story of Hanzo Hasashi, also known as Scorpion, who’s taking revenge for the murder of his Shirai Ryu clan.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is set to release for Spring 2020.
