Mortal Kombat Creator Ed Boon on Xbox Series S: ‘Microsoft Came to Play’

September 14, 2020

The creator of the Mortal Kombat series has shared his impressions of the Xbox Series S announcement. On Sunday, Ed Boon tweeted that the Series S could outperform the more powerful Series X in sales.

“Just like the lower priced iPhones 11 & SE) are the best sellers. The $299 Xbox Series S could very well be the best selling next gen Xbox,” he wrote. “High end & affordable line = Microsoft came to play.”

On September 9, Microsoft officially announced the prices for Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. The Series S will cost $299 and the Series X will cost $499. Pre-orders will open on September 22 for a November 10 release date. The Xbox Series S will feature a smaller SSD, no disk drive, and a less powerful graphics processor.
