Peter Parker Gets a New Face in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

October 1, 2020

Recently, Sony revealed the first footage of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PlayStation 5. Fans were shocked by the completely new look of Peter Parker.

According to the developers, they had to do it because the appearance of the original face model, John Bubniak, did not go well with the facial animation of Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor and motion capture actor for Parker. Bubniak has been replaced as the face model by Ben Jordan.

Fans have voiced their dissatisfaction about this change, so Marvel’s Spider-Man creative director Bryan Intihar released a comment. He tweeted that “delivering even more believable-looking characters made finding a better facial match for actor Yuri Lowenthal — who we all love as Peter — a necessity.”

Intihar emphasized that the developers continue to study players’ feedback in order to improve the game. Nevertheless, they are confident about their decision to change the appearance of Parker and ask fans to trust the team.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered will be released for PlayStation 5 on November 19. Recall that this game doesn’t have a free upgrade from current-gen to next-gen. If you want to play the remaster, you need to purchase the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
