Everything Capcom Announced During the Resident Evil Showcase

January 22, 2021

On Thursday, Capcom hosted the much-anticipated Resident Evil Showcase, revealing a host of news about the horror franchise.

Resident Evil Village

The main bulk of the news dealt with Resident Evil Village, the latest mainline entry in the series. The publisher confirmed that the game will release on May 7, 2021 and will also come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 players can try out a brief demo of the game right now. The demo shows a new character called The Maiden, who can be seen in the trailer below. A demo available for other platforms is set to launch in the spring.

Re:Verse Resident Evil

Another important announcement was Re:Verse Resident Evil. The project had earlier been leaked to the public by the Humble Bundle Store. This led to speculation that the game was some kind of multiplayer mode that would be included with Resident Evil Village.

Capcom seemingly cofirmed that was the case. The multiplayer spin-off will be a competitive mode where players can face off against each other. A variety of characters will seemingly be available to users to choose from. Anyone who purchases Resident Evil Village will get access to Re:Verse for free, with the game still being beta tested at the moment.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

The last announcement came in the form of replaying an old trailer for Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The CGI anime series is coming to Netflix this year and will feature Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield in a brand new story.
