Epic Games Hosting #FreeFortnite Tournament on August 23, Following Apple’s Decision to Ban Fortnite

August 21, 2020

Epic Games has announced the #FreeFortnite Cup, a tournament dedicated to its fight with Apple. Apple recently removed Fortnite from its app store, citing a violation of in-game payment rules by Epic Games.

“These are the final days of the entire Fortnite community’s ability to play together,” Epic Games wrote on its blog on Thursday. “Apple has blocked Fortnite from the App Store, preventing players from updating to new versions. Players on iOS devices will be left behind on Chapter 2 – Season 3 while everyone else jumps into the Chapter 2 – Season 4 launch on August 27.”

The #FreeFortnite Cup will take place on Sunday, August 23.

“Celebrate the quest for one more Victory Royale with friends across all platforms,” Epic Games writes. “Drop in for an opportunity to win more prizes than ever before including the new Tart Tycoon Outfit, gaming hardware, and exclusive apparel.”

  • 1 point for each elimination
  • 10 points for each royal victory

In the prize list of the tournament you can find the new Tart Tycoon outfit (for 10 points), a cap that will be mailed directly to the best players from all regions (up to 20,000 players), as well as 1,200 pieces of gaming hardware, including smartphones, consoles, and laptops.
